Gotmedbooks.com is an innovative website developed to help medical
students, publishers, and medical school faculty. The concept of
Gotmedbooks.com was founded and developed by Sumit Dua, a medical
student at USC – Keck School of Medicine. The idea evolved after
the realization of the many problems that both students and publishers
face today.
Gotmedbooks.com brings resources available for the medical student
in one place. The development of our concept allows medical students
to find and better utilize resources available. It allows publishers
to let students learn about products intended for them. Gotmedbooks.com
also allows students' opinions to be heard on products and then allows
the publishers to respond to these concerns and look for means of
improvement.
The idea requires a collaborative effort in order to be effective.
Gotmedbooks.com is already successful as students and publishers
have responded favorably to our inventive concept. Major Publishers,
including companies such as Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, McGraw
Hill, Kaplan, and Blackwell Publishing are involved and are working
with us. There are also students from various medical schools, both
Osteopathic and Allopathic, involved in reviewing resources. The
website is free to both students and publishers so that together
we can create a powerful tool that will help everyone.
Our current website is designed for the year I and II medical student.
This is phase I and we will have information for all other students
(Year III & IV medical, Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, and Nursing
students) in later phases.
